Google’s New Phone
Pixel 2, Google’s second generation phone had been launched few hours earlier. The two phones that are launched are the 5-inch Pixel 2 and it’s bigger version, the 6-inch Pixel 2 XL. After looking at the launch event, we realized that Google tried to copy the iPhone. Just like iPhone 8 and iPhone X,their selling point isn’t the hardware. The selling point is the whole package: A better smartphone experience.
- AMOLED display for the Pixel 2 and POLED QHD+ display for Pixel 2 XL . These two displays come with a new “always-on” feature which implies that you cannot switch off the display.
- No headphone jack (it’s not really a feature, I guess)
- Snapdragon 835 processor, 4 GB ram and 64 or 128 GB storage
- 12.2 megapixel camera with a DXO score of 98 (higher than S8 and iPhone 8 plus)
- Bluetooth 5.0 support
Samsung Galaxy S8 is still the best phone that one can find in the market today. Google Pixel 2 doesn’t really match this phone in terms of looks and the hardware, except the camera of course. We cannot really blame Google for launching such a product because their aim was to launch a phone inspired by the Apple’s iPhone. One can assume that Google plans to create an ecosystem around its phones by designing everything themselves which we might see in the third generation of Pixel phones.
